Winter Card
Mailer Fostering Connection
For BWBR's 2020 winter greeting, our team sought to create a mailer that would evoke warmth and connection during an exceptionally isolating time. The design process began with an exploration of numerous concepts, including advent calendars, storybook themes, and winter sports motifs. Ultimately, we developed a concept that could meaningfully include our entire staff despite their remote working situations—centered around the one ritual we all continued to share: our morning coffee.
We invited each staff member to photograph themselves with their favorite mug, creating a personal touchpoint that reflected our individual personalities while symbolizing our collective experience. To enhance the warm, inviting aesthetic, we incorporated a plaid pattern design throughout the card. This pattern inspired our layout solution, as we used its diagonal lines to create a dynamic diamond grid system that elegantly showcased each staff photograph on the card's reverse side.
After carefully arranging all images, we finalized the copy and determined that a vertical eight-fold accordion format would best serve our design. This interactive format proved to be a tremendous success across the company, with clients particularly appreciating both the personal glimpses of our team members and the engaging, tactile quality of the accordion-style presentation.
This project afforded me valuable experience overseeing the complete production process for a professional mailer. Our team visited the printing facility to verify all proofs before approving final production. Following printing, I personally handled the meticulous process of folding and assembling each card into its envelope, ensuring the highest quality presentation for our clients.
